Following on the agritourism trail blazed by Napa and Sonoma in California and even the Finger Lakes in upstate New York, winemakers in the Hudson Valley are trying to repackage what was once considered glorified farming into a booming tourist trade. A few are even calling the area ”the Napa Valley of the East.” And though a whiff of Concord grape still clings to the region, the winemakers are succeeding to some extent, not just with their wines, but with a cornucopia of artisanal cheeses, heirloom fruits, organic vegetables and even foie gras.
