Thursday May 27th at 7pm – Eric Nicolas is a performing musician and singer/songwriter, on good terms with a lot of the world’s popular music. He’s worked all over the world, both as a sideman and a featured artist; his critically acclaimed original music is available on Amazon and iTunes. His duo partner, Melissa Rodnon, has a background both in dance, and in jazz and classical music. She trained in Brazil and New York with prominent drummers, and is one of the few regularly performing female percussionists.
They began playing Brazilian music together in 2003 in clubs around Manhattan’s Lower East Side, and, drawing on their shared love of jazz, pop, every style of rock, reggae and R&B music, have evolved into an incomparably versatile and entertaining duo. Armed with only an acoustic guitar, assorted hand percussion and two microphones, Eric and Melissa create danceable grooves and a sound as big as any full band. They custom-fit their encyclopedic repertoire to suit any venue, crowd or event.
At Harvest-on-Hudson they will be grooving through their Brazilian repertoire, playing gentle bossanova, thumping samba and swinging forró; mixed in will be Eric’s world-inspired original songs, and as always, any requests from the crowd.
