Tasting wine for the end of the World

Saturday evening May 21 would mark the end of the World. The retired civil engineer Harold Camping, at 89 built an empire around his apocalyptic prediction. His preachings predicted that 200 million would be in heaven on May 21st, 2011 and those left behind would witness the end on the 21st of October.

Camping followers, sold and donated properties, quit their job and managed to drain their bank accounts and now that Harold Camping is MIA, disappointment is turning to violence and mental sanity is wearing thin. The civil engineer figured his mathematical predictions based upon Genesis 7:4 Bible verses: “Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.”

Many of us here in White Plains decided to experience shopping for wine at VINO 100 to take the edge off  the anxiety and to enjoy a shopping experience which is always as enjoyable as the drinking. The owners are always here ready to assist and they categorize the wine based on flavor and body with particular focus on Value.

The wines were great matched by exceptional values and additional discounts for this day only. The 2009 Aquinas Pinot Noir, the Vina Robles Red, the Terrazzo prosecco, Settevie Barolo, the St. Francis Pagani Zinfandel and the Sequoia Grove were amongst the 30 wines served. I wished for the tre bicchieri Versace Nero d’Avola, the Valentino Merlot or the Missoni Cabernet from Feudi del Pisciotto, where Alessandro Cellai is the wine maker.  Alessandro is also the wine maker at Rocca di Frassinello , the joint venture with Domain Baron Rothschild-Lafite. Stuart Levine promised to look into bringing the wines at Vino 100. You can see more picture of the event as well as our participating members comments by clicking here.
