August 26th, 2012 – Gregory personally escorted each guest to the table as we trickled in, and once we were all seated brought Prosecco for us, and as we raised our glasses talked a bit about the seasonal events at Whitby Castle, he was an amazing host.
Elegant accurately describes the ambiance at Whitby Castle; we had a window table overlooking Milton Harbor and the Rye Golf Club. The Brunch Buffet was a sumptuous display of food complete with carving and omelet stations; my favorite was the raw bar display and the fruit and dessert buffet. You can tell a lot about a place by savoring the coffee, and it was superb.
About Whitby Castle: Built in 1852 as a private residence for Mr. William Chapman, Whitby Castle was designed by Architect Alexander Jackson Davis. The construction contains stones from the original Whitby Abbey in England and thus the family chose “WHITBY” as the title of the estate. The interior boasts restaurants with intimate dining rooms, beautifully appointed bar, reception space, bridal suite and elegant ballrooms.
