Formed in 1990, with a repertoire of more than 80 songs, Tramps Like Us has been dedicated to enjoying and sharing Bruce’s music in a live setting. The group captures the classic Springsteen sound, and remains true to the spirit and energy of the music, while delivering them with the passion and conviction of the Boss. In keeping with the tradition of a typical Springsteen concert, Tramps prides itself on long and intense concerts, often playing 3.5 to 4 hour shows and at times without a break. Tramps has been able to cover up to 35 songs on any given night.
The band has chosen not to play the songs “note for note” from the studio recordings, but rather to have the musical freedom and expression as the E Street Band is famous for in their stunning live performances, thus adding the excitement and spontaneity to each and every performance by Tramps Like Us. The band has been fortunate to play with many distinguished musicians during their live performances. Among them have been E Street drummer Vini “Mad Dog “Lopez, The Cruisers’ (Gary U.S. Bonds’ Band) sax player “Screamin” Steve, and Southside Johnny’s drummer Louie Appel. Each one has complimented that Tramps Like Us is the best-sounding, most authentic Springsteen tribute they have ever heard. Unlike other “tribute” bands who attempt to impersonate or emulate their source in every respect, from looks to clothing to gestures, Tramps Like Us concentrates on the music itself.
